As I stated, we have forgotten the simple life. Everyone expects to have their own home instead of sharing a home with the extended family as we have done in the past. Think of the waste of resources we allow by following this practice. We also build houses where 25-50% of it is there for the one or two big events during the year - another waste.
We have come to expect others to make our meals instead of cooking our own. We run to the grocery store instead of the garden. We will drive a few blocks instead of walk - oh the sloths we have become!
I also believe our society is moving to an entitlement mentality. We expect to get it all - money, fun, the easy life without having to sacrifice. We have forgotten that hard work, education, and serving others is the foundation of healthy society.
We need to take action to help ourselves - save first:spend later, overfeed the mind:not the belly, service to others:not selfish gain.
